Frequently Asked Questions
Firstly, I would recommend you read the ‘Commissions’ page on my website, this will give you more details on what a commission involves and how it works. Following this, you can email me at lindseyjade.artist@hotmail.com or contact me via the form on the contact page stating that you are interested in a commission and the basic details of what it is you are looking for.
The cost of the commission varies depending on the size of the artwork and the
number of subjects. Please refer to the 'Commissions' page of the website for a guide to pricing.
Yes, I require a 50% non-refundable deposit, paid via BACS transfer, at the time of booking once we have agreed on the final composition of the artwork. This is to cover the time and materials used should you decide not to go ahead with your booking after the deposit is taken and before full payment is made.
I mainly create my pet and wildlife artwork using a wide variety of soft pastel sticks and pastel pencils. I use Pastelmat paper as it allows me to build up enough layers to achieve the realistic details I am looking for. I also paint landscapes using acrylic or oil paint.
Prior to taking your booking, I will ask you to send me copies of the photographs you want me to work from. It is important that the photographs are high resolution and not blurry as this is the only way I can achieve a detailed drawing. Please refer to the ‘Commissions’ page of my website to see a more detailed guide to what makes a good photograph.
I understand that you might be wanting a memorial piece created in the memory of a beloved pet. In these circumstances it is not possible to take any new photographs, so I will work with you to look at the photographs you do have to see if there is enough to work with. It might not be possible for me to create you a drawing with the same level of detail as usual but I will try my best to find a solution with you.
This all depends on the size of the artwork you are commissioning and the complexity of the subject. I aim to have commissions completed within 3 weeks of booking, however I will discuss timescales with you at the time of booking as it will depend on how busy I am. If you need your artwork completed quickly or by a certain date please send me a message and I will try my best to accommodate you.
No, the sizes I give are the most popular sizes and a guide to pricing. I am able to work with you to find the right size artwork for you.
All pastel drawings will arrive unframed and double mounted, this is to allow you to chose the frame that best suits where you want to display your artwork. I would advise framing your pastel drawing behind glass, the double mount will ensure there is a gap to stop your drawing touching the glass. I do not use a fixative on my drawings as this changes the colours of the pastels and reduces the details.
Delivery is free within the UK, you only pay for the cost of your commission. All artwork will need to be signed for on delivery.
No, I cannot accept returns on commissioned artwork as this has been made bespoke for you. If there is a problem with your artwork please contact me to resolve the issue
