Commissions
What a commission involves
When you make contact to discuss a commission I will ask you your ideas for your artwork and ask that you send me copies of the photographs that you would like me to work from (please read the information below on what makes a good photograph). I will look at the photographs to check that they are of high enough resolution and detail and will come back to you to discuss this. If the photographs are ok to use, I will discuss with you the final plan for the commission and confirm you are happy to go ahead. At this stage I will ask for a 50% non-refundable deposit to be able to start your drawing or painting. If you would like, I will send you progress photographs of your commission, I might also share these on social media unless you request otherwise. When I have finished your artwork I will send you final photographs to check you are happy with it. I will then request the remaining 50% payment, mount your picture, and post this to you.

All prices are based on one subject, with a plain/simple background. I am happy to discuss options if you would like more than one animal in your artwork or a more complex background.

Stage 2 - Select your photographs
The photographs you choose are one of the most important parts of the process, make sure you choose images that you love. If you are wanting to use a photograph that was not taken by yourself, such as by a professional photographer, please seek written permission from the photographer for me to use it.
-
If you are considering commissioning a pet portrait, look for photographs that capture your pets best features (eyes and nose) and reflect their personality.
-
If you are wanting to commission a wildlife portrait you have the option of sending me your own photographs or I can look to source reference photo's of your chosen animal and send you options to consider.
-
For landscapes, choose a photograph that reflects your love of the location, think about lighting and composition.
-
Please make sure that the photographs are high resolution so they do not appear blurry. If when you zoom in your photograph becomes blurry this will be very hard to work from.
-
Good lighting is one of the most important factors. Dark images or overexposed ones make it very difficult to see details. Photo's taken in natural light allow me to see accurate colours.
-
I understand that you might be looking to have a memorial portrait drawn if your much loved animal has passed away. If you only have limited photographs I will try my best to help.
Tips for choosing your photographs

Once you have selected the photographs you like best and show the details needed, please send them to me at lindseyjade.artist@hotmail.com along with any ideas you have for how you would like your artwork to look.

Stage 3 - confirming plan and securing your booking
Confirming the plan for your artwork
Once you have sent me your photographs, I will look to see which one/ones I think would be best for me to work from. We can discuss anything you like/don't like about them and if there are any details you do not want included. I will come back to you with a final plan for the composition for the artwork for you to approve.
Securing your booking
Once we have agreed on the plan for your artwork, I will require a 50% non-refundable deposit to secure your booking (the remaining 50% being payable on completion). Payments will need to be made via BACS transfer. This ensures that should you change your mind about the artwork once I have already begun working on it, that my expenses are covered. As you can see, I will have already put in a lot of time and consideration for your artwork, before you have even confirmed the booking.

Stage 4 - Creating your artwork
At this stage you can sit back and relax while I work hard to create you a piece of artwork you simply treasure. Some people like to wait until their commission is finished until they see it for the first time, the impact and 'wow factor' can be greater like this. However, some people like to see the process so I am happy to send you progression photo's along the way.
During this stage I might also post progression photo's to my social media accounts (please let me know if you do not want me to do this).

Stage 5 - Final approval and receiving your artwork
When I have finished your commission I will send you a photograph of the finished artwork to check you are happy with it. I will then require the final 50% payment. Once I have received the full payment amount, I will then mount your artwork (pastel drawings only), and package it safely for delivery.
If you have commissioned a pastel drawing, I would advise having this framed behind glass to protect it from damage. I do not use a fixative on my pastel drawings as it changes the colours and runs them into one another, losing the realistic details.
If you have commissioned a painting, this will arrive as a stretched canvas on a wooden frame. It is your choice whether you then get this framed, or chose to hang it as it is.

Stage 6 - Review
The most important thing to me is that you love your commission. I work hard to ensure that you are completely happy and have a piece of art you can treasure. Your feedback on the both the process and your final piece of art is so important to me and my small business. If you have the time I would really appreciate if you could send me a short review to lindseyjade.artist@hotmail.com.
